Rick, Jan and I got a Service Match in that took longer than it should have due to the target frame setup on range 3. As a result there was discussion about the much needed upgrades to range 3 and it was also brought up at the meeting. Feedback was that the upgrades should be done before the next Open.
After the Service match Rick, Jan and I shot a 25 yard service match which was a lot quicker.
I kept Rick on his toes but he got me in the end.
The meeting was then held where the results of the Open were discussed. It was agreed that the 25th Anniversary at the Bradleys Lane Site celebrations were a great success. Feedback suggested that the saturday night dinner was very successful as was the special collectable Glen Innes Pistol Club Coaster gift which was given to all competitors and helpers.
After the meeting several members shot Standard.
I would now like to address an issue which arises often and doesn't seem to get answered.
As I'm sure you have heard a tragedy occured in Tamworth recently. A Tamworth Policeman and father of six was fatally wounded by a gunman. Already members of our club have heard people stating that no person should own a firearm and if this was the case incidents like this would not take place. This is in fact completely incorrect. All firearms owners and shooting club members in this country have one thing in common, NO CRIMINAL RECORD. You cannot obtain a firearms licence if you have a criminal record in this country. So please don't blame the only people in your community who have proof in their wallet that they are NOT A CRIMINAL. These senseless acts of violence upset us SPORTING SHOOTERS as much as anybody else but what also upsets us is being tarred with the same brush as the actual perpetrators.

Next week is Service.
