27th February

28/2/2021

Not an unexpected small turnout yesterday following such a huge weekend with our Open the previous weekend - particularly with the storms coming in around the region most afternoons lately.

Michelle continued to shoot very well in Air Pistol equalling her previous best.

The remainder of scores returned were a little below par but those in attendance enjoyed their matches which was the main thing.

Match of the day on Saturday will be Standard Pistol commencing at 1 pm

February 2021 Open

Our first Open for 2021 has been run and won.

The event was one of the biggest Open shoots held by the Club since relocating to the Bradleys Lane Facility
in the very early 1980's with 47 entries received to contest 180 matches and only two intended contestants withdrawing due to ill health.

Thank you to everyone who entered our Open and a special thanks to those who worked so hard over the weekend to make the event so successful and run so smoothly.

The Men's 5 Match Aggregate was won by Bruce Melville with 2549 points and the Ladies 3 Match Aggregate was taken out by Alena Lavrushkina with 1,576 points.

Results for all matches are included in the attached file below

UPDATE FOR THE WEEK ENDED 6/2/2021

GRANT TO REPLACE THE BUILDING ON RANGES 1 & 2
It was Officially announced by Member for Northern Tablelands, Adam Marshall, that the Glen Innes Pistol Club had been successful in it's  application for a Grant of $85,873 under the Crown Lands Improvement Fund to replace the Building on Ranges 1 and 2 with a modern Colour Bond and Steel building on a new concrete floor with all work to be undertaken by local Tradespeople apart from reinstalling the eye brow baffles, new bay dividers and new seating which will be completed by Club members.
We will be in touch with the successful Tenderer tomorrow to get the plans prepared and proceed to Development Application and hopefully, completion of the project before our September Open.

ACCESS ROAD TO THE FACILITY
During the COVID-19 Lockdown, our road received quite significant weather damage from a number of storms and very heavy rain in short time periods.
During December, we received a quote from a Local Contractor well versed in road construction and repair and requested assistance from Crown Lands to cover the costs to permanently correct the issues causing the erosion and permanently repair the road. Assistance of $7,451 was approved two weeks ago.
Unfortunately, the Contractor cannot complete the works until after our Open this month.
An attempt to temporarily patch the road and improve access yesterday turned into a total disaster with very heavy rainfall coming in before the road could be compacted turning the repairs into a very sticky mess.
Plan B is to grade the worst of the mud off tomorrow and hopefully, complete a more successful temporary repair.

YESTERDAY
A small group of members attended the Club yesterday and completed re-roping the Flag Poles, slashing of one area of the camping area, some additional cleaning, preparing Targets for the open and a number of other projects in readiness for a much easier working bee next Saturday in preparation for the Open on 19-21st February.
Four members also contested a Standard Pistol Match and two contested an Air Pistol Match. Scores are now on the Clubs Results web page.
Next weekend is our main working bee to put the final touches on cleaning and mowing of ranges, cleaning the club house and all the other little chores that need to be attended too in readiness for the Open Shoot.

Much was achieved last Saturday with a small group of members who gave up the Match of the day to clean the roof and gutters of the Club house and dump badly stained water from one tank and clean out the sludge that had accumulated in the bottom of that tank over the last 12 years.
Special thank to Charles who provided both the Firefighter pump to empty the Tank and the Sludge pump to clean the sediment from the bottom of that same tank.
We were fortunate that the second tank had not been stained or contaminated as the down pipe had apparently  been blocked for some time with no water stained from leaf matter in the gutter reaching the tank.
Dick and James then contested an Air Pistol Match in almost record time with James ( a left hander) using an air pistol with a small right handed grip shooting with his right hand and only dropped some 60 points from his previous Personal Best shot left handed with an air pistol fitted with a left hand grip.
Match of the day next Saturday will be Standard Pistol commencing at 1 pm.
A couple of members will be undertaking a few maintenance jobs around the facility to prepare for our Open in 2 weeks and to make it easier to complete preparations for that event at the formal working bee on 13/2/2021
