26th June Update

27/6/2021

A cold but otherwise pleasant day in Glen Innes yesterday with seven members in attendance.
Bob did a massive clean-up of old targets that could not be recycled and Dick jumped on the mower and did a long overdue tidy up of Ranges one and two.

There was one full Air Match and three practice partial Air Matches contested followed by four members contesting a Standard Pistol Match.

Scores have been added to the Results page on this site today

It was very pleasing to see that the road works to repair the seriously eroded road (as a result of some very heavy storms during the COVID lock out last year and a couple more earlier this year) is nearing completion. All the drains have now been cleaned out and dug much deeper, the new road base for the majority of the damaged surface delivered and roughed in, the Cattle grid on the road removed and the hole filled with quality road base. A couple more loads of road base with the final dressing and forming up of the entire road surface with a grader and the entire road then properly rolled (when weather permits) will see the project completed and a very good access road in place for many years to come.

COVID UPDATE

We will need to wait and see what advices may be issued by Crown Lands and NSW APA on the new COVID restrictions for Regional NSW but at this stage we would expect to be able to still hold our weekly competition each Saturday with some added precautions, however, the situation is "fluid" and will need to be monitored and advices issued to all members should the situation change.

At this stage, we still plan to hold a shot next Saturday with Standard Pistol being the scheduled match of the day commencing at 1 pm.

Another cold and damp day in Glen Innes on Saturday but eleven members turned up for the Committee meeting, attend to some Administration Duties relating to the Crown Land Reserve we are located on and to contest 3 Air Pistol Matches and five Sport Pistol Matches.
Scores for matches contested are now listed on the Results page on this site.
Bob put the finishing touches on the portable baffles and everything is now ready to contest a trial 25 yard Service Pistol next Saturday before the official match of the day. Hopefully, the trial will be totally successful and the 25 yard Service match will resume and be a regular on the monthly calendar while another baffle is constructed to enable the 50 yard Service Matches to resume.
Matches of the day next Saturday are Standard Pistol and Air Pistol with Standard Pistol to commence at
1 pm. Air Pistol can be contested at any time during the day from 11 am to Range Closure Saturday afternoon.
Weather permitting, a 25 yard Service Match will be contested at 11 am.

June Update Two - COVID 19

13/6/2021

Following a number of conversations with a medical Practitioner and a Crown Lands Officer late last week, I have now registered the Club under COVID-19/NSW Health guidelines and downloaded a QR Code specific to Glen Innes Pistol Club.
One copy of this QR Code has been laminated and placed next to the sign in books in the Club House, however, several other copies have been printed and laminated and will be secured to the wall next to the front door and in each Range building in terms of the advice received.
In the past, we have relied on the "sign in" books to comply with COVID requirements to register attendances but I am now told that this is no longer acceptable or satisfactory as Contact Tracing using this method is far to slow and relies on the honesty of the infected person to advise authorities correctly of every place they have visited.
Members and visitors are now required to "log in" to the Club with their smart phone on arrival to comply with NSW Health directives in addition to signing the attendance book to comply with NSW Firearms Act requirements.
Whilst sum members may object to this new procedure, it is preferable to seeing the club being heavily fined or shut down (even temporarily) for non compliance with NSW Health directives.

12th June (June so far)

Not a lot in the way of competition matches so far in June but a lot has been achieved work wise with the new mobile baffle to enable resumption of the Service Pistol group of matches.
Scores for matches contested on 5th and 12th June have now been added to the Results page on this site
Bob has designed and constructed a full mobile frame for the mobile baffle and this was transported to Glen Innes on 5th June where template louvres were then fitted to ensure that they actually provided the required range protection.
Louvres were then cut in Inverell to the final design shape and delivered last Saturday where the necessary hinges and brackets were welded to each louvre and a final test completed.
We expect that a 25 metre match will be contested before Lunch and the Committee Meeting next Saturday
All that is required to complete the structure is a good coat of paint on the steel louvres.
A second similar unit will now be completed for use on the 50 metre Range so that Service Pistol and unrestricted Service Pistol can be contested in addition to the 25 metre Match
