24th August

Five members attended the Club yesterday with Jason screwing down the last of the flashing and installing two Downpipes on the Air Range and Charles cutting several trees into shorter lengths ready to be carried out of Range 3 to complete the work undertaken on that range during the week.
Four members then contested a Standard Pistol Match with the fifth member acting as Range Officer.
New member James (after only recently completing his training to use a .22 pistol) contested his first scored match and shot a very creditable score of 439.
Match of the day next weekend is Centre Fire/Sports Pistol commencing at 1 pm

Much better weather and , for the first time in over four months, no working bee on the Air Range, greeted the few members who attended the Club yesterday.
Bob and Wayne enjoyed a 25 metre Black Powder Match before Lunch with average scores only recorded.
After Lunch, Air Pistol matches were contested by Bruce, Bob and Wayne christening the newly upgraded Air Range
The lighting is brilliant exceeding all minimum standards for Air Pistol Range Lighting with no shadows forming on the shooting arm or Pistol when aiming for a shot.
The acoustics when firing a shot are different to what we had previously experienced but after a few shots fired, this is no longer noticed.
I suspect that usage of the Air Range will increase substantially once members sample the upgraded facility

10th August and AGM

Nine Members attended the Club yesterday for the Annual General Meeting. A quorum was present and the meeting and 2019 Election of Committee proceeded.
It would be fair to assume that the very cold weather combined with high wind kept others from attending on the day.
Two members contested a Rapid Fire match before Lunch and it was planned to have members contest an Air Pistol match to sample the freshly refurbished Air Range but as the Temperature dropped rapidly in the afternoon, so did enthusiasm for the Air Pistol match and the option was not taken up.
Match of the day next weekend is Centre Fire/Sport Pistol commencing at 1 pm with the potential to also contest an Air Pistol Match before Lunch or after the Match of the day

Match Results for the last few months

There has been very little shooting at the Club over the past four months due in part to the amount of Volunteer hours required from a small group of members to complete the Stage 3 upgrade of the Air Range.
I had not updated the 2019 Match Results page (even though I held the scores) until today.
If you look at the page, there are no scores missing - it is just that at times, it was several weeks between matches being contested at the Club.
Now that the Air Range is essentially completed, weekly competitions should resume starting this Saturday (10/8/2019)

Air Range Completion

8/8/2019

After 4 long months, the Air Range was completed inside yesterday (and is now fully operational)  with the re-installation of the Electronics, Target Lines and numbers. All that is left is a final clean up and removal of the surplus screws, glue, paint etc which will be done on Saturday morning
The outside is also complete apart from installation of two down pipes, a few screws in one flashing and a general tidy up around the area and removal of the rubbish to the tip.
The Range now meets or exceeds all International Standards for ISSF Air Ranges using paper targets - something members of the Club can be proud of.
This final stage of the Air Range upgrade was made possible by a generous grant received from the 2018 round of White Rock Wind Farm Community Grants.
This has been a mammoth effort by a small number of dedicated members and will meet the clubs future needs for many years to come.
Naturally, there has been very little shooting during the construction, however, there were a few matches contested and these will be updated on the Match Results page later today.
The Club's 2019 AGM is scheduled for 1 pm on 10/8/2019 and no doubt, members will give the completed Range a try out either before or after the meeting
