A couple of weeks with low attendances due to illness but a tremendous turnout last Saturday for a Working Bee and Club Meeting.

Everything is now clean and ready for the Club's second Open for the year commencing on Friday 20/9/2024.

Entries are down about 7 on the February events with a number of regulars lucky enough to be enjoying overseas or interstate holidays. Unfortunately, we have had 3 withdraw this week due to health related issues.

Longest distance entrants are from Holbrook, Canberra, Campbelltown and Cobar.

All we need now is for the weather to be kind over the weekend and we should have another very enjoyable ISSF Open event.

A much better attendance last Saturday with one Air Pistol Match, seven 48 shot WA1500 Matches and five Standard Pistol Matches contested during the day.
Bob was the "ironman" of the day contesting an Air Match to start his day off followed up by three WA1500 Standard Revolver matches before lunch and a Standard Pistol match after Lunch.

Next weekend's scheduled matches are Black Powder and Rapid Fire commencing at 1 pm.

A great turnout for the Club's Annual General Meeting yesterday with approximately half of the Club Membership in attendance.
Members enjoyed a lunch provided by Kerri Tom and the Weileys before the meeting commenced.
As expected, there was only one change to the elected Committee to replace the committee member who passed away several months ago.
There were 3 Air Pistol Matches, 6 WA1500 48 shot matches and 4 Standard Pistol Matches contested before lunch very much enjoyed by all that took part.

Match of the Day next Saturday is Centre Fire/ 25 Metre Pistol.

The cold and bleak conditions in recent weeks has resulted in several weeks without any competition and only a few "Practice" or ammunition testing shots being fired.

However, last weekend was Black Powder weekend and a cool but bearable day weather wise.

An Air Pistol Match, 6 WA1500 Standard Revolver and 3 Black Powder matches were contested with another member firing 40 Centre Fire Practice shots during the day.

Next weekend, the Match of the day is Standard Pistol followed by the Club's Annual General Meeting and hopefully, we will get a reasonable turnout for the meeting to occur.

​Entries have started to filter through for the September Open and we are hopeful of a return to the better entry numbers we had seen in recent years gone by.

It has been a little quiet at the club over recent weeks with a couple of members away on holidays, two members away on Referee Council Business with a few more trips to come over the next few weeks and generally the traditional cold weather for this time of the year making it much less pleasant venture away from the warmth of home.
The annual General Meeting is now only 3 weeks away and we are still shy of a couple of nominations for Committee Positions.
Our September Open is to be held on 20,21 and 22 September with entry forms to be emailed out in the next 48 hours. With interest shown to date, we hope that we will see a return to our pre COVID entries.

Another small attendance yesterday with only 4 members in attendance but not to be unexpected with the very low maximum temperatures in the region at present.

Bob fired an Air Pistol Match before proceedings got under way and then Bob and Wayne contested two 48 shot WA1500 matches before Lunch and with 3 members contesting a Standard Pistol Match after Lunch.

It was pleasing to see our new Council supported "Emergency sign" installed at the entry of the club grounds. These signs are a great initiative making for easy identification and location of properties in an emergency.

Very little shooting this month due to weather conditions several weekends in a row.
Last Saturday, 2 members contested WA1500 Standard Pistol Matches before lunch and prior to the Bi-monthly Committee Meeting.
As the previous meeting was cancelled due to ill health of several of the Committee, there was a considerable amount of business to get through resulting in the match of the day being cancelled due to the late finish of the meeting and the weather conditions closing in.
Matches of the Day next weekend are Standard Pistol and Air Pistol with Standard to commence at 1 pm

Invoices for Membership Renewal were emailed yesterday and already 6 members have paid their renewal by EFT.

Membership is due and payable on 1st July and must be received by the Treasurer no later than the commencement of the Annual General Meeting to be held on 10th August 2024 to avoid lapsing of membership.

A slight improvement in weather last Saturday over the previous Saturday (when we had torrential rain all afternoon preventing competition) but not much.

A combination of the very low cloud/fog and the smoke from the two Black Powder guns made it almost impossible to even see the target at times. Even in the Range building at times was very hazy with the combination.

Bob and Wayne did enjoy the match none the less with Charles joining in with a Centre Fire Pistol for a bit of practice and to get rid of about 40 "mystery" loads

A busy day at the Club yesterday with six members and  three potential new members in attendance.
Bob took the "ironman award" shooting an Air Pistol, two WA1500 Standard Revolver matches and Sport Pistol match for the day as well as mowing one of the ranges before competition.
Not bad for the oldest member in attendance on the day.
Hopefully the family visiting the club for the first time will join with two of the family being Juniors, one showing great potential on her first visit and attempt at pistol shooting

VALE JIM MITCHELL

Members were saddened to learn last night that long term member - Jim Mitchell- passed away yesterday morning in Warialda Hospital after suffering considerable health problems over recent years.

Jim did not want to go to Hospital and lie around for weeks to die and it is a credit to Margaret and Kim that they tended to Jim until last Wednesday before he was placed in Hospital a mere 5 days before he passed.

On behalf of all members, we express our sincere condolences to Margaret, Kim and Kim's two sisters who do not reside in the Inverell/Glen Innes Area.
