The Club Committee can now announce that we have been successful in gaining a Grant from the Whiterock Wind Farm Community Grant Scheme which will fund the final stage of the upgrade on the Air Range with a new insulated roof and significantly upgraded lighting to bring the range up to National standards for Air Ranges using paper targets.
The funding will also enable the club to insulate and line all walls and replace the old timber seating with modern steel bench seats. All materials have now been ordered and will be on sight in plenty of time to commence the necessary work immediately after the February Open with the project planned to be completed by May/June 2019. Only 4 shooters attended the Club last weekend and contested the Centre Fire/Sport Pistol Match.
Illness, other commitments and the fact that Club Pistols were not available was the major cause for the low attendance. Matches of the day next weekend are Standard Pistol and Air Pistol. There is also a Black Powder Range Officer's Course being run at the Club this weekend by Wayne, however, this will not interfere with shooting on Saturday. Saturday will see the five participants in the Course undertake the Theory portion of the Course in the Club House with their Practical Assessments being undertake on the Range Sunday Morning. A small turnout last Saturday with three contesting 25 Metre Black Powder, 2 contesting Centre Fire and I undertaking Practice/Training in Air Pistol.
Results were quite mixed with Rick the only person to shoot to his grade. Match of the day next Saturday is Centre Fire/25 Metre Sport Pistol. Club Pistols will not be available at the Club next weekend A reasonable turnout at the club last Saturday with six members contesting Standard Pistol, three contesting Air Pistol and one in a coaching/Range Officer capacity.
Lack of match practice was fairly evident in the Standard Pistol Match as can be seen by the scores on the Match Results page, however, Air Pistol was a different story. Our two newest members continue to improve in leaps and bounds in Air Pistol with Jacqui returning another Personal Best of 447 (an improvement of 20 points and her 3rd PB in a row) with new Junior member Cooper having his first PB improving by 50 points. Kerri also returned a PB improving by 2 points. Matches of the day next Saturday are Rapid Fire Pistol and 25 Metre Black Powder commencing at 1 pm |
