Rapid fire and .22 rimfire rifle were contested last saturday at Glen Innes Pistol Club. .22 rimfire rifle you exclaim......at a pistol club. That is correct. They are like pistols but longer if you were wondering.

Last saturday was such a nice day we decided to have a practice and training session which commenced a bit after 11am.
During the training session Club President Rick Bowen and Club Captain Jan Bowen imparted some of their knowledge and experience to some of us up and coming future Olympic hopefuls. We all learnt valuable lessons and were left with a lot of food for thought. I for one am looking forward to the next one. We then retired for lunch. After lunch we shot a Centre Fire/Sports match. The results can be viewed on the match results 2012 page. Next week is Rapid and as always visitors are most welcome. It was a remarkably nice day last saturday to head to the club for a shot considering the blanket of snow that covered the region the day before.
Around 11am some of us went to range 3 to commence service pistol. Jan was quietly off to the side shooting some very impressive groups but had previously chosen to not have her match scored. I guess she took the pressure off or something but whatever it was it worked. Shame we will never know the score. I managed to shoot what I can only assume is a PB..........and I beat Rick yayyy. I should in fairness mention he is still tuning his loads and was having cycling issues causing frequent malfunctions..........but I don't think I will..........might just bask in the glory for a little while longer. We then retired for lunch. After lunch Rick and Gary shot a blackpowder match which only hardened the resolve of the members that don't yet possess Black Powder equipment to remedy that as quickly as possible. Trevor and Ian shot Centre Fire and Sports respectively. The scores (except Jans) can be viewed on the match results 2012 page. Next week is Centre Fire and as always visitors are most welcome to come along and see what the sport is all about. Saturday the 6th was a great day to get out and have a shot or two.
There was a great turnout and a fun time was had by all. 25 Yard Service started around 1100. As did Air Pistol. No mistaking the psst clink of the Air range being used......in between the sound of the centre fires being used in Service that is. Around 1300 everybody retired to the clubhouse for the monthly meeting and the free lunch that comes with it. After the conclusion of the meeting a Standard match was run. Results can be viewed on the match results 2012 page. Next week is Service Pistol. As always visitors are most welcome. |
